Kung kailangan ng thyroidectomy (surgery para alisin ang thyroid), ang Head and Neck Surgeon o ENT Surgeon na may training sa thyroid surgery ang gagawa nito. Usually ang Endocrinologist ang magrerefer sa iyo.

Sobrang active ang thyroid at naglalabas ng excess hormones. Pinaka-common cause ay Graves' disease. Nagdudulot ng mabilis na metabolism, weight loss, at anxiety.
Kulang ang thyroid hormone production. Pinaka-common cause ay Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Nagdudulot ng slow metabolism, weight gain, at fatigue.
Paglobo ng thyroid gland na nakikita bilang bukol sa leeg. Pwedeng may hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, o normal function. Pwede ring dahil sa iodine deficiency.
Mga bukol o lumps sa loob ng thyroid gland. Karamihan ay benign (hindi cancer), pero kailangan ng ultrasound at minsan biopsy para maalis ang posibilidad ng cancer.
